We are grateful to the talented young creatives at Falmouth University who created a mesh awareness video, now live on our Sling The Mesh YouTube channel.

This incredible project began when we were contacted by the university’s animation teaching team who invited me to speak to their students as part of their coursework

I travelled down to Falmouth and gave a presentation about the devastating impact of mesh complications and the urgent need for awareness. What struck me most was how quickly the students grasped the issues. From that very first talk, they understood the human stories behind the statistics and were determined to help make a difference.

Over the following months, they worked with passion and creativity to produce a short animated film that shines a light on the risks of mesh. This isn’t just a piece of coursework – it’s a meaningful advocacy tool that will help us raise awareness and guide people to our Facebook community, where those affected can find advice, signposting, and understanding from others who truly know what living with mesh problems means.

Working with the students was an absolute pleasure. Their professionalism, empathy, and commitment to telling this story in a sensitive yet impactful way have been inspiring. This collaboration shows the power of education and creativity coming together for social good – and what a fantastic way to raise awareness!
