Johnson & Johnson was found to have lost or destroyed thousands of documents and computer files dating back to 2007 related to development of its Gynecare Prolift and TVT Retropubic meshes. The Brandi Law Firm
Swedish medic Daniel Altman published a paper in The New England Journal of Medieinc (NEJM) on Prolift mesh in 2011, but failed to declare influence from Johnson & Johnson (J&J). US lawyers found out that J&J modified the manuscript and watered down the mesh complication rates before submission to The NEJM. The NEJM published an embarrassing correction a few years later.
- In 2019, the Australian judgement stated that, at the time Altman amended the manuscript according to J&J instructions, he emailed J&J medical director asking if he could get a job with the company.
- J&J withdrew Prolift in 2012.
