TVT

The tape goes in the retro pubic space between the urethra and the bladder and comes out on your pubic area.

TVTO

The tape is inserted through the groin creases at the top of the leg and is taken through an area known as the obturator foramen. The tape sits under the urethra. This version of the operation was designed to prevent bladder perforation.

It is surgeon’s choice as to which operation they perform

PELVIC ORGAN PROLAPSE

Surgeons use mesh kits or large pieces of mesh to support organs such as the vagina, uterus, bowel, bladder or urethra which have prolapsed after childbirth

If a woman has had a TVTO they can not have it removed as the obturator foramen is rich in nerves and it would cause more damage removing it.

So the woman has to live with the pain.
