I had a mesh for a hernia repair when I was 28 years old. From the off I knew something wasn’t right and my scar kept getting infected.

Eventually it cleared up with antibiotics and I kept getting told this was normal. We trust our NHS doctors and nurses so I didn’t question it.

For the next few years I had horrible stomach pain and was passing blood and despite loads of tests they said everything was OK.

But I needed high dose pain killers daily just to function cos it was like something was digging and cutting into me.

I was referred back to the surgeon who said he had never seen problems after his surgeries and he quickly felt the area and then made out I was making a mountain out of a molehill. He made me feel silly to question him.

Now I live on daily pain killers. Which never really get rid of the pain. The constant pain some days really gets to me. I wish I had never had the operation. I regret it every day.
