I had a great career – am now a shadow of my former self because of mesh
After suffering with bladder incontinence after having my 3 children. I was referred to the bladder clinic. Had test, physio on the core. Tried electric physiotherapy devices to strengthen muscles.
I ended up with a fitted bladder sling at the age of 32. During surgery I was awoken with excruciating pain in my right had side. They put me straight back under. Once I came around I felt faint instantly. I could not pass urine and needed a catheter. Was in hospital a few days after surgery.
Finally got sent home with a catheter to use myself on emptying. Things seemed to settle.
A few years went by. No leakage. Then in 2020 I started with bladder retention. Not fully emptying. Pain in lower right hand side, in my groin, leg and back. Experienced tummy swelling and lots of UTIs.
Back to use of a catheter and self emptying. I could pass 150 myself, but with holding 500/ 600ml. Tummy swelling pain. Sickness. Was put on a waiting list for neatly 2 years. Had the camera up my uretha. All seemed well they said.
I was referred to the RVI Hospital. Had an MRI and after examination I was told partial prolapse front and back. Waiting on a few more tests. I was told the tape is too tight on the right hand side which is causing bladder retention and pain. Fingers crossed I get this horrible tape out. It’s caused me to not work.
Mesh caused low mild depression. Issues in my relationship and what once was a healthy young happy lady is a shadow of her former self.
