I had a TVT mesh sling for bladder leaks and a mesh prolapse repair in 2013. When I woke from the operation, I came round screaming with unbearable pain down my left leg. I was told it was nerve pain and would settle in time – but it never did. For the next six years I kept going back to my doctor, and nothing was done.

Then in 2019 I was rushed to hospital with sepsis caused by an infection in my right fallopian tube. I ended up needing a full hysterectomy and spent four months in hospital. I was incredibly unwell, yet kept being told it was pelvic inflammatory disease – something I’d never had issues with before. When I finally got home, I developed an incisional hernia and had to go through yet another mesh repair.

Now I’m waiting for a full removal of the TVT mesh and for plastic surgery to repair my stomach. I’m in constant pain, I struggle to walk, and the problems just keep piling up. I’m also being investigated for possible autoimmune conditions caused by the mesh. My life has not been the same since 2013.

No solicitor will take on my case because I’m outside the three‑year window, which feels really unfair after everything that’s happened. This has affected not just me but my children too. I’m now classed as disabled, unable to work, and I’m exhausted from living like this.
