The carnage of mesh implant injuries
Trying to explain the devastation of mesh is incredibly difficult. Listen to the podcast to find out more. With many thanks to Angela Walker for raising awareness of the mesh scandal.
Mesh is used in surgeries for prolapse, incontinence, rectopexy and hernia but many have ended up with their lives irreversibly devastated. Some have had organs removed where mesh has acted like an internal knife and sliced into them, many have allergies and reactions to the plastic mesh material, women have lost their health, their jobs and their marriages.
One in seven on the Sling The Mesh support group has lost their sex life and more than half have recurring deadly UTIs where they are becoming antibiotic resistant.
We’ve men in the support group whose hernia mesh is causing chronic unbearable pain and for some the plastic material has sliced their spermatic cord.
There’s also members suffering who had mesh used in DIEP reconstruction surgery after breast cancer.
